Welcoming Address from the Chair of Optics-2014

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am honored to welcome all of you attending this Optics-2014.

I am delighted to see so many distinguished participants and also very grateful that you have accepted our invitation to support this unique forum which is focused on the important frontiers in laser, semiconductor quantum structures, laser, photonics, electronics, nanotechnology and condensed matter Science.

I have to acknowledge that the organizing committee made a considerable effort to organize this Optics-2014 conference.

Obviously, it is not an easy task to put together so many subjects in a coherent and concise fashion. I share the responsibility for the selection of invited speakers from various countries.

Our ultimate objective at this conference is the exploration of future prospects in the above frontiers.

You should all feel free to express your views on what you feel is of most significance in the future course of research. History tells us that not only is individual creativity required, but that dynamical interaction among scientists is also essential for advancement in Optical Science. It is my hope that the collective deliberations that you are about to initiate here will provide a milestone for the shaping of the progress in Optics, Lasers and Photonics for the coming decade. I would like once again to welcome all of you, and wish you an excellent meeting.

The conference topics include Laser science or laser physics and photonics. Nanoplasmonics, a subfield of nanophotonics, involves the control of light at the nanoscale by using surface plasmons-the branches of applied physics that look at the theory and applications of lasers and optic light. This branch is really concerned with the building and applications of lasers, their devise, and the physics involved in their future development. The applicatory part of Lasers are monochromatic (single color wavelength), collimated (non-divergent) and coherent (wavelengths in- phase) in contrast, LED's are neither coherent nor collimated and generate a broader band of wavelengths (multiple). The objective of this meeting is to mount a discussion between industries and academic organizations and knowledge transfer from research to industry. The Nanophotonics discussions part of the sessions will include carbon wires, lithography, photonic crystals, and nanofibres and devices
