Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a branch of Medicine that aims to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neurologic, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, pulmonary and other disorders that may produce temporary or permanent impairment and associated functional disability. PM&R also focuses on restoring optimal function to people with injuries to the muscles, bones, tissues and problems ranging from physical mobility limitations to those with complex cognitive impairments. It also provides care for broad spectrum of disabilities and disorders and aims to enhance performance by treating disease or illnesses with physical impairments or disabilities.
