Dr. Xian Qiming is a professor of environmental Chemistry in Nanjing University, China. Dr. Xian has worked in the Department of Environmental Science of Nanjing University for 6 years since he had received a PH.D in Environemtal Science from Nanjing University. He teaches ”Environmental Monitoring„ for junior students in School of the Environment and \"Environmental Organic Analytical Chemistry\" for senior students. He got a postdoctoral fellowship from ENSRC, Canada and studied passive sampling method in Health Canada in 2008-2009. Dr. Xian is interested in analytical technology of trace pollutants in water and chlorinated disinfection byproducts in drinking water, and he had published more than twenty research papers in international journal. He had got the research fund form National Natural Science Foundation of China. He worked in Physics & Chemistry Test Center of Jiangsu Province from 1988 to 2002 as a chemist, where he was responsible for GC-MS analysis services.

Conrad Labandeira received a Ph.D. in the Department of the Geophysical Sciences from The University of Chicago, and completed postdoctoral studies in the Department of Plant Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History since 1992, served as department Chair, and currently is Senior Scientist and Curator of Fossil Arthropods. He has published 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals and books, 20 papers in the popular press, and serves as subject editor for the Ecological Society of America.

She has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (1981) and M.Sc. Degree (1984) in Environmental Engineering from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. Between years 1981-1983 she worked as a chemical engineer in the Industrial Development Bank of Turkey and as a research assistant at the Bogaziçi University during 1983-1984. She has worked as a Project and Research Engineer in various Contracting Firms dealing with treatment of water and wastewater within the years 1984-1992. Her Ph.D. is in Environmental Engineering (1991) and she got her degree from ITU, Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering where she has been a member of teaching staff since 1992. She has become Associate Professor in 1996 and Full Professor in 2002.

I am a Research Fellow at the School of the Environment, working on projects involving land use science and ecosystem services. I am also an affiliate Lecturer at the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, the University of Adelaide. My current research involves the integration of environmental economics and ecology for understanding of the complex socio-ecological and economic dimensions of ecosystem services with their implications for equitable and sustainable development. I am also interested in land use and land cover change and its impact on biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Professor Dawen Gao got his PhD (2003) and MPhil (2000) degrees from Harbin Institute of Technology, after receiving his BSc (1991) from Qiqihaer Normal College. Then he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University and as a visiting scholar at Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Stanford University. He was Associate Professor and Professor at School of Forestry, Northeast Forestry University from 2003 to 2007 and joined Harbin Institute of Technology as a professor from 2007. The focus of his research and teaching has been in environmental science and engineering, and the control of environmental contaminations. He won a few awards, including 2 Heilongjiang Province Science & Technology Awards (2008, 2011), Heilongjiang Province Excellent Youth Award (2005), New Century Excellent Talent Award (2005), and China Excellent Doctoral Thesis Award (2005). He has published two books and 80 papers.

Kelly Swing, PhD, Louisiana State University, is a professor of environmental science at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito and director of the Tiputini Biodiversity Station. He serves as director for Boston University’s Ecuador Tropical Ecology Program and is an adjunct professor in the Department of Biology at Boston University.
