Michael Retsky is Research Associate at Harvard School of Public Health, Honorary Research Associate at University College London and Professor Adj at UANL, Monterrey, Mexico. He is a founder and on the Board of Directors of Colon Cancer Alliance (www.ccalliance.org). He received a PhD in Physics from the University of Chicago in 1974. He is Guest Editor at the journal Cancers, has been Guest Editor at the journal Sensors and Algorithms, and is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Bioequivalence and Bioavailability. He was on Judah Folkman’s staff at Harvard Medical School for 12 years and is CoPI of a breast cancer research grant from Komen Foundation (http://www.clintransmed.com/content/1/1/17). He has published over 60 papers in cancer research and physics.

Ivo Abraham is professor (part-time) in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science and the director of the Center for Health Outcomes and PharmacoEconomic Research. He has also served on the faculty of Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio), University of Virginia (Charlottesville, Va.), and (part-time) Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuven, Belgium); and as visiting professor at Universiteit Maastricht (Maastricht, The Netherlands), University of Florida (Gainesville, Fla.), Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (Groningen, The Netherlands), University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Penn.), and Chang Gung University (Kwei-Shan Tao-Yuan, Taiwan). He has lectured, consulted, and conducted research throughout the Americas, Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and Africa.Being part-time, he divides his time between the University of Arizona and Matrix45, a biopharmaceutical research and consulting company, where he serves as chief scientist.

Dr. Abraham’s research has focused mainly on clinical outcomes and effectiveness research, in particular how variability in (drug-centric) treatment regimens is associated with variability in patient outcomes.

Subhash C. Basu is a Professor emeritus of Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Notre Dame. He will be the President of CDDRF Cancer Drug Delivery Research Foundation to be established at Notre Dame. He completed his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI 1961-66. He completed his BSc in Chemistry Honors from Calcutta University, Calcutta, India in 1960. He is an elected Fellow of AAAS, 1988. He received Jacob Javits Neurological Research Award from NIH, 1988-98. He received Distinguished Biochemist Medal from the Calcutta University in 1989. He became an inducted member of the John Hopkins Honor Society in 1995. He is serving as an editorial board member of three reputed journals Glycoconjugate J, J Current Drug Targets and J Bioanalysis and Biomedicine and as a reviewer of 5 other journals. He has more than 250 publications in National and International Journals. Almost 170 researchers including 25 PhD, 25 post doctorals, 120 technicians visiting scientists and undergraduate Biochemistry major students have been trained in BasuLab during the last 39 years. Presently he is involved in the research of breast and colon cancer therapy using Liposome Magic Bullets containing newly discovered Apoptotic agents; the potential anticancer drugs. He will be establishing CDDRF Current Drug Delivery Research Foundation at the Innovation Park Building in Notre Dame for continuation of the present research and to help other laboratories inside and outside of UND campus working in this area of research.

Upon completion of his doctorate in chemistry at The University of Tokyo in 1995 Dr. Yan joined the R&D group at Ibaraki Research Laboratory, Hitachi Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. where he carried out research works to develop sophisticated electronic components by utilizing functional polymers. After his research works on conductive polymers at Tokyo University of Science, Yamaguchi for 6 years, and on polymer gels and super water-repellent materials at Hokkaido University for 3 years, Dr. Yan joined the Laboratory of Organic Robotics at the University of Yamanashi in 2007 where he is an Associate Professor. Before his above career in Japan, Dr. Yan had been educated in China, i.e., in Jilin University (1978-1982) for Bachelor of Science on polymer chemistry and in Henan Institute of Chemistry (1984-1987) for Master of Science on inorganic chemistry. Dr. Yan who is a full professor of Zhengzhou University since 2011, has published 8 books, 59 original papers, and 31 patents. Currently, Dr. Yan is also an Editorial Board Member, Journal of Bioequivalence & Bioavailability (OMICS Publishing Group, USA), and an Editorial Advisory Board Member, Recent Patents on Materials Science (Bentham Science Publishers, Ltd., USA).

Dr Ashwell R. Ndhlala received his BSc Honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Zimbabwe in 2001, first doctorate (DPhil in Biochemistry) from the same institute in 2008 and second doctorate (PhD in Ethnopharmacology) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa in 2010. He is a Researcher at The Research Centre for Plant Growth and Development in KwaZulu-Natal South Africa. His research interests are on African Traditional Medicine. With long term goals of documenting the safety, efficacy and sustainable utilisation of African Traditional Medicine. With vast experience in toxicology, bioanalysis, microbiology, conservation methods and indigenous knowledge systems, he has contributed immensely to the knowledge of ethnopharmacology of African Traditional Medicine. He serves as a member of the Editorial Board for the South African Journal of Botany and the Journal of Bioequivalence & Bioavailability.

Ajay K Banga is Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Mercer University Atlanta GA. He also holds an Endowed Chair in transdermal delivery systems. Dr. Banga has a Ph.D in pharmaceutics from Rutgers University NJ. He is currently major advisor to 10 Ph.D students and has graduated 15 students under his guidance. His laboratory is funded by several start up and leading pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Banga currently serves on the Editorial Board of 7 journals as Associate Editor for one journal and has served as the EditorinChief 2002 to 07 for a drug delivery journal. He has written two books in the areas of delivery of proteins and transdermal delivery. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.

Dr. Marlene Shehata has received her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine, specializing in Genetics of Cardiovascular Diseases from the University of Ottawa during the period of 2004-2010. Dr. Shehata is also a licensed Ontario Pharmacist practicing in Southwestern Ontario. Currently, she is working as a Clinical Pharmacist Consultant in numerous academic hospitals, nursing homes and community pharmacies in Southwestern Ontario. She has successfully completed her Administrative responsibilities as a Manager for the Pharmacy and Clinical Services Department. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pharmacology Research, Associate Editor for the Journal of Ecobiotechnology and The Journal of Biotechnology Applications. She sits on the editorial boards of numerous journals including the African Journal of Biotechnology and Hypertension-Open Access. Dr. Shehata has authored 23 research articles, 2 book chapters and 24 abstracts. She is a member of the Canadian Hypertension Society, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, Ontario Pharmacists Association and Ontario College of Pharmacists. She is the 2012 recipient of the Commitment to Care and Service Awards winner for Advanced Learning. She is the 2011 recipient of the Certificate of Excellence by Hypertension Canada and the 2007 Horizon Award recipient by Memorial University of Newfoundland. She was awarded numerous other awards including the Pfizer Canada, Canadian Hypertension Society (CHS) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Doctoral Research Award in 2005, the Ontario Graduate Scholarship in 2005, Merck Frosst Best Basic Science Presentation Award in 2006 and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship for Science and Technology in 2004 and 2006. Marlene was selected as one out of five Canadian pharmacists’ finalists in Diabetes Management: Best Practices in Patient Care 2009 Competition; she was recognized on the “Volunteer Wall” on campus the University of Ottawa for sacrificially giving over 180 hours of volunteer work in 2007 academic year . Her motivation, enthusiasm, and perseverance made her an ideal candidate for receiving the 2008 Have a Heart Bursary by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society.

Dr. Hsieh received his Ph.D. from Chemistry Department of Michigan State University. Prior to joining Schering Plough Research Institute, he did postdoctoral training at the Department of Pharmacology and Biochemistry of the University of Florida and at the Biopharmaceutical Sciences Department of the University of California-San Francisco. During his tenure at Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) Department of legacy Schering-Plough Research Institute/Merck Research Laboratories, Dr. Hsieh lead a strong bioanalytical group composed of Ph.D., M.Sc. and B.Sc. scientists to apply challenging UPLC-MS/MS approaches for metabolite identification and sub-nanogram/ml quantitative assays of a variety of molecules and also served as a project manager to conduct in vitro and in vivo exploratory DMPK experiments for a variety of drug discovery programs such as TRA, HCV, NAR, CHK1 and to present the results in collaboration with medicinal chemistry and biology departments to support drug discovery projects. Dr. Hsieh is currently Chief Scientific Officer at Protech Pharmaservices Corporation.

Dr. Hsieh’s research interests are in the areas of biological mass spectrometry (MS). The major objectives of the research are to expand the bioanalytical horizons through developing mass spectrometry-based techniques for the characterization and quantitation of known and/or unknown chemicals and then to utilize these capabilities to study the real-world biomedical systems. Dr. Hsieh’s research activities will mainly include the following projects: (1) Development of bioanalytical methods using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) or electrospray ionization (ESI) coupled to MS for macromolecule analysis. (2) Development of hyphenated-tandem mass spectrometric (MS/MS) methods interfaced with various atmospheric pressure ionization methods for small molecules and biomarkers analysis.
