Knox Van Dyke completed his PhD in Biochemistry in the Edward A Doisy–Nobel Prize Department at Saint Louis University in 1966. He did Postdoctoral studies in the Department of Pharmacology at West Virginia University. During this time he developed the first effective drug screening system for antimalarial drugs while screening over 10,000 drugs. Mefloquine and halofantrine were recognized by this screening system and were further developed by Walter Reed and various companies as patented drugs. He has over 300 publications and 150 patents.

Dr. Charles S. Greenbnerg recieved his M.D. from Drexel University College of Medicine in 1976. In 1982, he was awarded California Affiliate Dorothy Penrose Stout Research Award and Established Investigator Award in 1986 from American Heart Assocation. Owen A. O’Connor, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, is the Director of the Lymphoid Development and Malignancy Program in the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at Columbia University, and Chief of the Lymphoma Service in the College of Physicians and Surgeons at New York- Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. O’Connor received his Ph.D. from the New York University School of Medicine in Biochemical Toxicology and Chemical Carcinogenesis, and his M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He then went on to complete a medical internship and residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center. Following his medical residency, he did a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he was Chief Fellow from 1997-1998, and a Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at the New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center. Dr. O’Connor maintains a laboratory program focused on the discovery of novel small molecules for the treatment of non-Hodgkin\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s lymphoma and Hodgkin\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s disease using unique animal models of lymphoma and high-throughput screening approaches. Clinically, he is focused on the conduct of Phase I and II clinical trials, with an emphasis on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies. He has a particular interest in the development of proteasome inhibitors, histone deacetylase inhibitors and Bcl-2 targeted drugs for the treatment of lymphoproliferative malignancies. To date, his efforts in conducting early phase clinical trials with bortezomib (Velcade) and SAHA (Vorinostat) have led to recent FDA approvals of these drugs for the treatment of mantle cell and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Dr. O’Connor is a member of several professional societies, including the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and the American Society for Hematology. He has published nearly 100 articles in numerous journals, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, Journal of Clinical Oncology, British Journal of Hematology, Leukemia and Lymphoma, Clinical Cancer Research, Environmental Science and Technology and Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. Dr. O’Connor is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the Scholar in Clinical Research Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a Merit Award from the American Society for Clinical Oncology, and the William Guy Forbeck Scholar Award.

Dr. Laughlin is Associate Professor of Medicine and Pathology at Case Western Reserve University/Case Comprehensive Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Previously she was Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Duke University in North Carolina. In 1996, Dr. Laughlin co-authored with her colleagues at Duke University her first publication in the New England Journal of Medicine describing transplant outcomes in children with leukemia. Next, in 2001, she published as first author a second manuscript in the New England Journal of Medicine addressing stem cell transplant outcomes in adult leukemia patients. In 2004, her third manuscript in this prestigious publication directly compared umbilical cord blood as a new stem cell source with conventional bone marrow grafts in adult leukemia patients. In addition, Dr. Laughlin and her co-investigators have published more than 40 papers in the field of leukemia and stem cell transplantation. In addition to serving as President Elect of the International Society of Cellular Therapy (ISCT), she is also an elected member of the American Society of Hematology, the International Society for Stem Cell Research, the American Association of Blood Banks, the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, the American Association of Immunologists, and serves as advisor for additional associations and committees including the FDA and NIH. Dr. Laughlin has received numerous awards including: the Dr. Donald and Ruth Weber Goodman Professorship Chair in Innovative Cancer Therapeutics in 2006; the John J. Kelley Award in 2002 and was the first Stephen Birnbaum Translational Research Investigator both awarded by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America (LLSA) in 1998, as well as being named a Clinical Scholar by the LLSA in recognition of her contributions in the field of leukemia.

Dr. Jay S. Raval received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, during which time he was a Howard Holderness Distinguished Medical Research Scholar. He trained at the University of Pittsburgh where he completed a surgical internship followed by residency training in clinical pathology. He went on to complete blood banking/transfusion medicine fellowship training in the joint program between the University of Pittsburgh and The Institute for Transfusion Medicine. During this time, he developed an interest in therapeutic hemapheresis and hematopoietic progenitor stem cell collection and processing. Dr. Raval stayed on as faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and The Institute for Transfusion Medicine for one year before joining the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he is the Medical Director of Therapeutic Apheresis. He has published over 20 peer reviewed articles, authored two book chapters, and is on the editorial board of three journals.
