Davis holds a doctorate in Medicinal Chemistry from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. His thesis focused on the use of MS in the characterization and quantitation of peptide phosphorylation. He started his career at J&J as a COSAT intern using MS to characterize the glycan linkages found on Remicade. Since joining J&J he has started several analytical sub-groups He has also served as the new technology and innovation lead within analytical. He has won several innovation awards within J&J for his work on automation and high-throughput analysis which continues to be his current focus.

Rao received his MD from Bombay University, India, and then earned a PhD in developmental neurobiology from California Institute of Technology.After postdoctoral work at Case Western Reserve, he became an independent researcher at University of Utah. Next he joined the National Institute of Aging, where he studied neural progenitor cells and their potential clinical use. Dr. Rao was also the VP of Regenerative Medicine at Life Technologies. Additionally, he co-founded Q Therapeutics, a stem-cell research firm and serves on USDA Cellular Tissue and Gene Therapies advisory committee and more.

Daisuke Kihara is associate professor of Biological Sciences and Computer Science at Purdue University. His research interests are development and application of structural bioinformatics methods, including those for protein structure modeling, protein structure-based function prediction, protein-protein docking, and protein-ligand docking. His research projects are supported by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, and Purdue Research Foundation. He has published more than 70 papers in reputed journals.

His research interests include protein function prediction, protein structure prediction, and protein surface shape comparison for function prediction and docking.

Bashir Al-Diri has completed his PhD from the Lincoln School of Computer Science at the University of Lincoln. His main research is concerned with the development of computer vision algorithms to analyse retinal blood vessels for characterization of retinopathy. He developed a set of robust fully automated techniques for retinal vascular segmentation and measurement, which provides a unique combination of good segmentation and superior measurement performance. It is thus uniquely well-suited to act as a base for research into the diagnosis of vascular diseases that cause measurable changes to the geometry of retinal vessels.

Tatiana Tatarinova is a researcher in the area of computational biology and the leader of Glamorgan Computational Biology Group GlaComBio, karate tournament fighter, winner of prestigious 2010 Nisei week tournament video , and a pop singer.

Debalina Sarkar has completed his Ph.D in cancer studies from University of Wales, Bangor. Her postdoctoral work is on hemophilia from University of Florida and on endocrine cancer from Harvard Medical School. She has published first author papers in journals like ‘International Journal of Cancer’ and have published editorials. She has served as the review committee for American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy annual meeting 2012. Dr. Sarkar also serves as the editorial board member for the journal Genetic vaccines and Therapy.

Ming Chen received his PhD in Bioinformatics from Bielefeld University, Germany, in 2004. Currently he is working as a Professor in Bioinformatics at College of Life Sciences, Zhejiang University. He is serving as an academic leader in Bioinformatics at Zhejiang University. He is a member of Chinese societies for “Modeling and Simulation of Biological Systems”, “Computational Systems Biology” and “Functional Genomics & Systems Biology”.

Keith C.C. Chan obtained his B.Math. (Hons.) degree in Computer Science and Statistics and M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1984, 1985 and 1989 respectively. He joined the IBM Canada Laboratory as a software analyst soon after graduation and was involved in the design and development of software engineering tools and image and multimedia software products. In 1994, he joined The Hong Kong Polytechnic University where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Computing and the Dean of Students of the University. He was Head of his Department from 2002 to 2008. Prof. Chan’s research interests are in Data Mining, Bioinformatics and Software Engineering. He is the author and co-author of three books and over 200 publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He is on the editorial board of five journals and is on the program committee of numerous conferences. He is currently also a Guest Professor of the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.
