Denis Barritault graduated in Math and Physics, completed his Ph.D. in biochemistry in Paris University. Post doctoral in molecular immunology at Pasteur Institute and NYU as NIH Fogarty Fellow he joined INSERM unit in Paris as developmental biologist. He made the first description and patents of FGF extracted from retina in 1979 and 82 as skin and cornea healing agent, became full professor at Paris East University in 1985, founded and directed a CNRS Laboratory on cell and tissue regeneration until 2003. He is now President of OTR3, Emeritus Professor and author in over 200 publications and 29 patents.

Mahin Khatami received her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from University of Pennsylvania (UPA, 1980), after receiving her MA in Biochemistry (SUNY, Buffalo, NY), BS and MS (Chemistry and Science Education, Iran). Her postdoctoral trainings were in physiology, protein chemistry and immunology at UPA, U VA and Fox Chase Cancer Inst. As a Research Faculty (Dept. Ophthalmology at UPA) she was involved in two major projects, diabetes complications and experimental models of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. In the first decade of her research career at UPA, by publishing 39 scientific articles and 60 abstracts in conference proceedings, she became the most productive scientist in USA. In 1998, she joined NCI/NIH as a Program Director, involved in major clinical trials (PLCO). Dr. Khatami's relentless efforts for promoting the important role of inflammation in cancer research paid off in the last few years as significant funded projects are currently devoted to various aspects of inflammation within and outside NCI/NIH. Her last position before retirement at professor level was Program Dir., Innovative Molecular Imaging Technologies, (IMAT) and Assistant Director, Technology Program Development, Office of Director, NCI/NIH. She is currently Associate Editor for Cell Biochem. Biophy, Editor and author of books on inflammatory diseases and cancer.

Hala Zreiqatis a National Health and Medical Senior Research (NHMRC) Fellow, Head of the Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials Research Unit in the Faculty of Engineering, and the Bosch Institute, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sydney, AUSTRALIA. She has 93 peer-reviewed publications; 6review papers; 12 book chapters and 4 patents. She is the Immediate Past President of the Australian and New Zealand Orthopaedic Research Society (2010-2012); Advisor, World Orthopaedic Alliance (since October 2012);Founder and Chair of the Alliance for Design and Application in Tissue Engineering; recipient of the Australia-Harvard Fellowship (2013) and the NHMRC awards (2006, 2011).

Giacomo Cao, Professor of Chemical Engineering, is currently the Coordinator of the Ph.D. Program in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Cagliari, Italy and the Head of the Bioengineering Group at CRS4, Italy. The main research interests in the field of biomedical engineering are the design of rotating bioreactors for engineered cartilage growth, the experimental analysis and modeling of in vitro proliferation of mesenchymal stem cells, the use of human mesenchymal stem cells for acute toxicity tests as well as the development of novel processes for tissues decellularization and recellularization.

Jan O. Gordeladze, Ph.D. (born 24th of April, 1950), holds a triple professor competence (medical biochemistry, physiology, and pharmacology), and is presently working as a professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Institute of Basic Medical Science, University of Oslo, Norway. He has previously been employed as the medical director of MSD, Norway, serving two years as a Fulbright scholar at the NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, USA, and from 2006-2009 being employed as associate professor at the University of Montpellier, France. He has published more than 100 scientific articles, reviews/book chapters and presented more than 250 abstracts/posters/talks at conferences world wide.

Cornelia Kasper completed her Ph.D. 1998 from Leibniz University of Hannover (Germany) and her habilitation in 2007 at the Institute for Technical Chemistry at the Leibniz University of Hannover. She was appointed as full university professor for "Biopharmaceutical Production and Technology" at University of Natural Resources and Life Science (BOKU) in Vienna (Austria) at the department of biotechnology. She has published more than 60 papers in reputed journals and several book chapters and is editor within the series "Advances in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology" (Springer) of several volumes covering actual areas in stem cell research.

Parolini is the Director of E. Menni Research Center, Fondazione Poliambulanza, Brescia, Italy and the President of IPLASS - International Placenta Stem Cell Society. She has pioneered research on human placenta-derived stem cells. Her research is focused on the immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory,and antifibrotic properties of amniotic and chorionic membrane-derived cells. Parolini has been invited as a speaker to over 80 international congresses and has been organizer and scientific leader of several international events. She is author of over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as several book chapters. Parolini has one issued and two pending patents.

Prakash Kulkarni studies living systems which are dynamical systems, and employs both theoretical as well as experimental approaches. His research that is focused on intrinsically disordered proteins, integrates interdisciplinary approaches from fields as varied as biology, bioengineering, physics, structural biology, computational biology, and mathematics to answer important questions such as state or phenotypic switching, self-organization, synchronization, and evolution that have important biological and biomedical implications. He uses cancer as a model system. Kulkarni obtained a Ph.D in biochemistry from India and did his postdoctoral training in cell biology at New York University. Subsequently, he worked in the Division of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, and in the Department of Genetics at Yale University. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute for Bioscience & Biotechnology Research at the University of Maryland. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Urology, in the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute and Oncology at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins University, and from 2010-2012, he was the Irene and Bernard L. Schwartz Scholar of the Patrick C Walsh Prostate Research Fund.

Christoph Brochhausen graduate of the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, in Medicine is presently working as senior lecturer in Pathology at the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany. Christoph has been awarded with a special award noted as \"Selected Landmark 2012\" Germany Land of Ideas Award issued from German Government for the project: \"Biomimetic solutions for articular cartilage regeneration\". He has about 81 Publications in peer-reviewed journals, 4 books along with 112 published abstracts.

Zvi Nevo serves as a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry at the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. He runs an active laboratory, directing 3 PhD students and 3 students for Master Degree, supported by grants from the Israeli Academy of Science and GIF German Israeli Binational Foundation. His field of expertise is in general developmental, maturation and aging of connective tissues in health and disease, with special emphasis on cartilage and cartilage repair with composite implants. Prof. Nevo serves as a member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Cell Transplantation, Cartilage Section. Prof. Nevo sponsored during the years 15 PhD students, 12 students for Master Degree and 25 MD for basic science training projects. He has one hundred scientific articles, ten chapters in books and 23 patents.

M Yliperttula has completed her Ph.D. at the age of 32 years from the University of Helsinki 1993. She is heading the division of the biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics, at the Faculty of Pharmacy. She performed her post doc period at Saclay at CEA, Paris, France, has been working 10 years in drug company, and has been as a visiting scientists at Harvard Medical School at Cambridge, USA. She has published more than 70 papers in reputed journals and serving as editorial board members in few international journals.

Zilberman holds an appointment of Associate Professor with tenure at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Tel Aviv University. She received her B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (Cum Laude) and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the Technion in Israel. She then worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Prof. Zilberman has published more than 80 peer reviewed articles in the top biomaterials and tissue engineering journals, contributed more than 140 presentations (including invited talks and plenary lectures) and serves on the Editorial board of several Biomaterials journals.

Sanjukta Deb is a Reader at the Department of Biomaterials, Biomimetics & Biophotonics (B3) at the King\'s College London. She is responsible for research into in the development of biomaterials to restore function of traumatized or diseased tissue using innovative analogue materials; tailoring materials through surface modification and the production of novel biodegradable, biocompatible materials with integrated biological activity and the development of a new generation of composite materials. She is currently the President of the UK Society for Biomaterials. She has published widely and presented her work internationally and nationally with many as keynote and plenary speaker.

Ramon Llull obtained his medical degree with honors at University of Navarra, Spain in 1988. His research on immunological aspects of musculo-skeletal tissue transplantation was awarded the Henry Christian Memorial Award for Excellence in Research from the Association of American Physicians, and sponsored by the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation and the American Association for Hand Surgery. He subsequently entered a plastic surgery clinical training at the University of Pittsburgh residency program. During his training was awarded the 1994 young investigator award of the International Transplantation Society for his continuing studies on musculo-skeletal tissue immunology. He is founder of Stemsource, Inc, and holds with Dr. Katz while at the University of Pittsburgh, several US and international patents related to tissue engineering, device biotechnology and stem cells. He is Joint founder, First President and Past-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Adipose Technologies and Science (IFATS). He is member of the Educational Committee of the Tissue Engineering Society, International. In 2009, he enabled the first cell vaccine for brain tumors in Europe as a consultant of Northwest Bio therapeutics (NWBT), a US based Biotechnology Company focused on cancer immunotherapy. Currently, he is founder of The GID Group, Ltd, and holds several patents describing cell surgery methods, devices and sources.

Lars-Peter Kamolz is Professor for Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery and Head of the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, Medical University of Graz. Furthermore, he is the Head of the Research Unit for Tissue Regeneration, Repair and Reconstruction at the Medical University of Graz.

Anand Ramamurthi, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Biomedical engineering at the Cleveland Clinic with adjunct appointments at Case Western Reserve University, and Clemson University, where he was earlier a tenured faculty. He received a doctorate from Oklahoma State University and was an AHA postdoctoral fellow at the Cleveland Clinic. He directs a well-funded research program focused on biomimetic regenerative repair of ECM/elastic matrix, in vitro, and at sites of proteolytic disease. Anand is a member of several vascular disease-related professional societies and their committees, and an editorial-board member of repute in the JTSE. He is a peer-reviewer for several funding agencies and 20+ journals, and has 38 peer-reviewed publications.

Ana Colette Pereira de Castro Osorio Mauriciohas a degree on Veterinary Medicine since 1995 and a Ph.D. on Veterinary Sciences since 1999 from Faculdade de Medicina Veterinaria (FMV)- Universidade Tecnica de Lisboa (UTL). At present, she is an Associated Professor with Aggregation from the Veterinary Clinics of do Instituto de Ciencias Biomedicas de Abel Salazar (ICBAS), Universidade do Porto (UP), and she is the vice-President of the Pedagogic Council of ICBAS- UP. She created a multidisciplinary team, including Veterinaries, Engineers, Medical Doctors that through Experimental Surgery have a crucial role in the development of biomaterials and cellular therapies, allowing a close share of knowledge between biomaterials design, development of cellular systems, and surgeons needs when related to specific clinical cases. She is the co-author of a large number of scientific articles published in Indexed Journals (she publishes as Mauricio AC) and of several scientific book chapters.

Charles Unsworth, Senior Lecturer, obtained his Ph.D. in Physics at the University of St. Andrews, UK in 1997. He is an Ex. Higher Scientific Officer of the Defense Evaluation Research Agency (DERA) Ministry of Defense, UK. He completed a 3 year Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Edinburgh in Radar Signal Processing and a 2 year Postdoctoral Mobility Fellow at Edinburgh University collaborating with the Royal Hospital of Sick Children, Edinburgh in Biomedical Signal Processing. He runs the 'Advanced Signal & Image Processing Group', at the University of Auckland specialising in Biomedical Signal Processing & Neuroengineering.

Huanxiang Zhang has completed his Ph.D., at the age of 28 years from Beijing Normal University, China and Postdoctoral studies from Geneva University School of Medicine, Switzerland. He is now working in the Department of Cell Biology, Medical College of Soochow University, China. His research focuses on the control of the directed migration and differentiation of stem cells, including neural stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells and embryonic stem cells, and tissue engineering, especially the interaction between stem cells and the silk fibroin scaffolds with a variety of physical and chemical properties.

Ipsita Roy is a microbial biotechnologist with special expertise in bacterial-derived biodegradable polymers. She is currently a Reader at the School of Life Sciences, University of Westminster, London. She was awarded the prestigious Inlaks Scholarship and the Overseas Research Students Award to study for her Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge. During her time at Cambridge she was awarded the Churchill College Scholarship, the Lundgren Scholarship, Leche Trust Scholarship and the Cambridge University Philosophical Society Fellowship Award. Her postdoctoral work was at the University of Minnesota, USA, at the Bioprocess Technology Institute, where she worked on fatty acid biosynthesis. She taught at the Indian Institute of Technology, India, for four years as an Assistant Professor. During this time she worked actively on the production of biodegradable polymers from Streptomyces. She has been at the University of Westminster since 2000 and leads the Applied Biotechnology Research Group. Ipsita Roy\'s group is currently focussed on the production of novel Polyhydroxyalkanoates, PHAs, a family of biodegradable and biocompatible polymers produced by bacteria under nutrient limiting conditions. Her group has pioneered the production of PHAs from Gram positive bacteria such as Bacillus sp., which lack immunogenic properties and hence are highly suitable for medical applications. These include applications in the area of hard tissue engineering, soft tissue engineering, wound healing and drug delivery. She has published over 100 research papers in her area, chaired and organised sessions and presented her work at numerous international conferences. She is an editor of the Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology (JCTB) and has edited an \'In Focus\' Journal on Biodegradable Polymers, a special issue of the JCTB. Currently she is editing another In Focus Issue on \'Drug Delivery\'. She regularly reviews manuscripts for many journals including Biomaterials, Biomacromolecules, Journal of the Royal Society Interface, Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, Journal of Applied Physics, Material Science and Engineering, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Tissue Engineering, Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, Biotechnology Journal and Reactive and Functional Polymers. She is on the BBSRC, NSERC, Canada, FWF, Austria and NSFC, China, grant-reviewing panels and is the Vice Chair, Biotechnology section, SCI, London, UK. She has been appointed expert in the field of Materials Science and Engineering by the Italian Agency for the Evaluation of University and Research (ANVUR).She has also been appointed by the European Research Council Executive Agency, \"ERCEA\" to the panel involved in the peer review evaluation of proposals.

Neslihan Alemdaris currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey. Alemdar received her Ph.D. degree from Istanbul Technical University in Chemical Engineering in 2009. During 2011-2013, she worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Institute & Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Harvard-MIT) at Tissue Engineering Field (USA). She previously had worked at Medicine and Chemical Materials Company in Research and Improving Department as Research and Improving Engineering, and She has 2 years of industrial experience at Plastics Company in Total Quality Management Department, Istanbul, Turkey. Her research interests are focused on the synthesis of smart polymers and characterization and the fabrication of hydrogels for tissue engineering applications and drug delivery systems.
